Your Key Dates
How It Works & What to Expect
This calculator uses the standard method to determine your due date, which is based on a 40-week pregnancy cycle. It's a useful tool for planning, but always remember to consult with a healthcare professional for a precise diagnosis and personalized guidance.
The Calculation Method
Our calculator uses Naegele's Rule, the most common method for estimating a due date. It adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) to give you an estimated due date. It also determines your current gestational age by calculating the time elapsed since your LMP.
Key Milestones by Trimester
- First Trimester: Weeks 1 to 13. Early development of major organs.
- Second Trimester: Weeks 14 to 27. The baby grows rapidly, and you may begin to feel movement.
- Third Trimester: Weeks 28 to 40. The baby gains weight and prepares for birth.
Frequently Asked Questions
The estimated due date is a useful guideline. Only about 4% of babies are born on their exact due date. Your doctor will provide the most accurate estimate based on medical factors and ultrasound scans.
A due date is typically 38 weeks after the date of conception. While this calculator is based on LMP, you can easily calculate your due date by adding 266 days to your known conception date.
If your menstrual cycles are irregular, the LMP-based calculation may be less accurate. In this case, an ultrasound scan performed by a healthcare provider is the most reliable way to determine your due date.
